Marco Mantova Benavides. Italian humanist, jurist and collector, born in Padua on 25 November 1489 and died in the same city on 2 April 1582 (aged 92). His family was of Spanish origin, first settling in Mantua in the 13th century before moving to Padua in the 14th century. The family was ennobled in the early fifteenth century. He was the son of Giovani Pietro Benavides, a doctor, and Lucrezia.
