Superb.
After divorcing Joséphine in December 1809, he married Marie Louise of Austria, the eldest daughter of Emperor François I. These medals were struck to commemorate the civil marriage of Napoleon I and Marie Louise on 1 April 1810. They were issued in different modules and in different metals: gold, silver and even platinum. The larger ones were given to the great dignitaries who attended the ceremony, while the smaller ones were thrown to the people.
