Jean-Baptiste Ursin Adolphe Duchalais was a French archivist, paleographer and numismatist. After graduating from the École des Chartes (1843), he became the first employee in the medals department of the Bibliothèque Impériale. Duchalais was a member of the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres, vice-president of the Société de l'École des Chartes, and a member of the Société française de numismatique and the Société nationale des antiquaires de France.
