Thrace, Maroneia. Tetrobolos bearing the name of the magistrate MHT-ND (398–385 BC), Maroneia.
‘Av. M’ on the left, ‘H’ on the right and ‘T’ at the bottom. Protome of a horse on the obverse.
Reverse: M – A. Vine branch with a bunch of grapes, within a square grenetis; an ivy leaf at the bottom right.
HGC 3.2, 1534 – SNG Cop.617 - Schönert-Geiss 267–272; Silver – 2.84 g – 14.5 mm – 9 h
The centred strike is vigorous, with the reverse clearly engraved within a square. Attractive grey patina. Superb.
