Aetolia, Aetolian League. Triobol or hemidrachma ND (220–205 BC).
Obverse: Head of Atalanta facing right, wearing a petasos.
Rev. AITΩΛΩN. A wild boar with bristling tusks to the right; below, the name of a magistrate; in the exergue: a spearhead.

Bearing the magistrate’s name [ΑΤ]ΕΥ. On a slightly oblong die. Fine antique patina. Very Fine to Superb.
The Aetolian League, or Aetolian Koinon, was a confederation in ancient Greece centred on the cities of Aetolia in central Greece. This league was formed in the 330s BC. By around 245 BC, the League controlled central Greece. It formed an alliance with Rome to fight against Macedonia under Demetrius II and later Philip V (the First Macedonian War, 214–205 BC).
