Aetolia, Aetolian League. Triobol or hemidrachma ND (220–205 BC).
Obverse: Head of Atalanta facing right, wearing a petasos.
Reverse: AITΩΛΩN. Boar with bristling tusks facing right; below, name of magistrate; in the exergue: spearhead.
HGC 4, 951; Silver – 2.84 g – 15.5 mm – 6 h
Acquired from Baron in 1996.
With the letter Δ beneath the boar. Large module and a fine strike, only slightly off-centre. Attractive grey patina. Superb.
