Attica, Athens. Classical-style drachma ND (5th century BC), Athens.
Obverse: Head of Athena facing right, wearing a helmet with a plume; she wears round earrings with a dot in the centre.
Reverse: AΘE. Owl standing on the right, facing forwards.
HGC 4, 1626–1630; Silver – 4.16 g – 14.5 mm – 10 h
Acquired from Platt in 1990.
Beautifully styled on the obverse. Traces of scraping on the reverse around the owl. Anthracite patina. TTB.
