ANCIENT GREECE - GREEK Ionian Islands, Corfu (Corfu / Korkyra). Stater or didrachm ND (525–500 BC), Corfu (Corfu / Korkyra). Obverse: Cow on the left, head turned back and suckling a calf on the right. Reverse: Two parallel hollow rectangles, with star motifs centred on a square and a diamond. HGC 6, 31 – Fried, *The Autonomous Silver Coinage of Korkyra from the Earliest Strikings through 229 B.C.* (1982), Group I; Silver – 10.69 g – 18 mm – 3 h Acquired from CB [Claude Burgan] in 1993. Struck on an archaic metal ingot, with an off-centre strike on the reverse. With a grey patina. Rare. Very Good to Very Good-Plus.
