Caria, Rhodes, Lalysos. Diobole ND (480–412 BC), Lalysos.
Obverse: A wild boar’s head, with two large wings, flying to the right.
Reverse: Head of Athena facing right, wearing a Corinthian helmet, within a hollow square.
HGC 6, 1375 – SNG von Aulock 2777; Silver – 1.28 g – 9.5 mm – 3 h
Acquired from Bonvalet in 1983 (Clazomenae).
Struck on a small ingot in high relief. Of very fine quality for this rare type. Beautiful patina. Superb.
