Caria (satraps of), Pixodarus (340–334 BC). Trihemiobol ND (341–335 BC).
Obverse: Head of Apollo in three-quarter profile to the right.
Reverse: Π-Ι-Ξ-Ο-Δ-Α-Ρ-Ο. Four-pointed star, flanked by four leaves, with the legend between the petals.
Sear 4968; Silver – 0.81 g – 10 mm – 7 h
Acquired from the Banque Populaire du Nord in 1980.
Well struck and well centred, for this type which is difficult to find. Minimal traces of corrosion. Attractive dark patina. Very Good to Superb.
