ANCIENT GREECE - GREEK Ionia, Magnesia on the Meander. Hemidrachma or diobol bearing the name of the magistrate Skutou – ND (350–320 BC), Magnesia on the Meander. Obverse: A helmeted horseman in military attire galloping to the right, holding a javelin horizontally in his right hand. Reverse: ΜΑΓΝ. A charging bull to the left, with an ear of corn behind him. Below the ground line, a meander and [Σ]ΚΥΘ[ΟΥ]. SNG Cop. 808 v. – SNG Kayhan 414; Silver – 1.58 g – 12.5 mm – 2 h Acquired from Elsen in 2009. With KYΘ visible on the reverse, the magistrate can be identified. With a fine grey patina. Superb.
