Ionia, Miletus. Hemiobolos ND (500–480 BC), Miletus.
Obverse: Lion’s muzzle viewed from the front, with its paws.
Reverse: Scorpion within a hollow square.

Acquired from Busso Peus in 2017.
One of the earliest double-sided coins (cf. MDC 16 no. 104 in electrum), also attributed to Mylasa in Caria. Beautifully struck, with a grey patina. Very Good to Superb condition.
