ANCIENT GREECE - GREEK Kingdom of Bactria, Apollodotus I (180–160 BC). Square drachma of Indian weight, ND. Obverse: ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΑΠΟΛΛΟΔΟΤΟΥ / ΣΟΤΗΡΟΣ. Elephant facing right, with a different inscription below. Reverse: “Maharajasa / Apaladatasa / tratarasa” in Kharosthi. Zebu passing to the right, below (variant). HGC 12, 119 – Bopearachchi Series 4, monogram C, no. 32; Silver – 2.46 g – 16.3 mm – 12 h With a lovely grey collector’s patina. Superb.
