ANCIENT GREECE - GREEK Kingdom of Bactria, Philoxenus (c. 100–95 BC). Quadrangular bilingual drachma, of Indian weight ND, Pushkalavati? Obverse: ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΝΙΚΗΤΟΥ - ΦΙΛΟΞΕΝ[ΟΣ]. Draped bust, head encircled by a headband, facing right. Reverse. Inscription in Kharosthi: Maharajasa – apadihatasa – Philasinasa. The king, wearing a helmet, on horseback facing right; below (monogram). HGC 12, 271 – Bopearachchi 8–10; Silver – 2.44 g – 16 mm – 12 h With monogram D (two opposing A’s). Beautiful grey patina. Superb.
