GAUL - CELTIC
Massilia – Marseille. Obol with a helmeted head facing left, ND (450–425 BC), Marseille.
Obverse: Head facing left, wearing a helmet adorned with a four-spoked disc.
Reverse: Four-spoked wheel with lobes.
MHM.1 - Dicomon OBM-2a - LT.516; Silver - 0.93 g - 9 mm - 12 h
Acquired from J.-L. Cougnard in 2007.
The strike is slightly off-centre, on a relatively heavy blank. The portrait is quite stylised. Attractive collector’s patina. Almost Superb.
