GAUL - CELTIC Massilia – Marseille. Drachma or tetrabole featuring a fierce lion on the left, ND (c. 125–100 BC), Marseille. Obverse. Draped and diademed bust of Artemis facing right, wearing earrings and a pearl necklace; behind her, a quiver and a bow. Rev. ΜΑΣΣΑ. Lion facing left, right forepaw raised; between the legs I, Λ beneath the belly and A in the exergue. MHM.44/1 - Dicomon-44-1 - Brenot type 76; Silver – 2.8 g – 16.5 mm – 4 h On a fairly wide flan, with a clear strike, off-centre on the obverse but very complete on the reverse. The patina is grey, with golden and pinkish highlights. Superb.
