GAUL - CELTIC Normandy (Normandy group). Quarter-stater, sword type, class VI, with a bare hand and a sword bearing the initials ‘ND’ (220–150 BC). Obverse: Apollonian profile wearing a laurel wreath, facing right, with intertwined locks of hair; a sword, point to the left, beneath the neck. Reverse: Horse facing right, with a charioteer atop it brandishing a whip in his left hand and his right hand raised behind him. Beneath the horse, a gladius pointing to the left. In front of the horse, a long undulating cord ending in a spike. A small ring beneath the horse’s tail. Remains of the legend ‘Philip’ beneath the ground line.
