GAUL - CELTIC Aulerques Diablintes. Quarter statere featuring the ND flower (c. 120–80 BC). Obverse: Apollonian profile, wearing a double laurel wreath to the right; locks of hair gathered into a bun at the back of the head, with a small lock falling over the forehead. Reverse: An androcephalic horse on the right, driven by a charioteer holding the reins in his right hand, whilst his left arm holds a wavy lead rope ending in a vexillum in front of the androcephalic horse; between the legs, a stylised wheel or a four-petalled flower within a beaded ring. DT.2166 - LT.6902 - Scheers Péronne no. 256; Gold - 1.9 g - 12.5 mm - 9 h A rare type, of excellent quality, on a well-centred yellow gold blank. With a slight golden-brown patina. Rare. Superb.
