GAUL - CELTIC
Namnètes. Small-headed stater, Class II ND (late 2nd – early 1st century BC).
Obverse. Profile to the right, with hair topped by two heavy locks in opposing crescent shapes; beaded cords around the effigy. In front of the face, a sort of vertical yoke.
Reverse: Androcephalic horse on the right, driven by its charioteer raising a disproportionately large hand. Below, a hippophore figure facing forwards, head turned to the right.

From the Blanchet collection, and Roz Landrieux’s collection in 1907, then acquired at a Weil auction in 1985.
With an interesting provenance. The patina is dark and ancient. Very Good to Superb condition.
