GAUL - CELTIC Osismes. Quarter-stater featuring a bird of prey and a bull as a standard, ND (150–50 BC). Obverse: Head facing left, hair in thick locks, surrounded by coiled beaded cords; a diamond-shaped motif in front of the mouth. Rev. A bridled androcephalic horse galloping to the left; a beaded cord ending in a small cross at the front; above, a bird of prey holding the reins in its beak; below, a bull-standard on the right. DT.S 2226B = this specimen!; Electrum – 1.53 g – 14 mm – 3 h Acquired from T. Vossen in 2008. This is the specimen illustrated in the Supplement to the New Atlas, no. 2226B. In pinkish electrum, with an antique patina. Very rare, with only two known examples according to the New Atlas. Very Good to Superb condition.
