Description
GAUL - CELTIC
Coriosolites. Billon stater, Class II, with a pointed nose, ND (c. 50 BC).
Obverse: Profile to the right with hair styled in three large curls; a straight, pointed nose following the very pronounced brow ridge; scrollwork radiating from the mouth.
Reverse: Androcephalic figure on the right, depicted as a charioteer with an elongated beak, above a double beaded mane flaring out over the rump. Below, a wild boar on the right.

Acquired in Buisine in 1989.
Well centred on the obverse, with a dark patina and some red deposits. Slight oxidation on the reverse. Superb.
