GAUL - CELTIC Aulerques Éburovices. Hemistater (light) with a wolf, Class II with a tattooed cheek, var. 2 ND (early 1st century BC up to the Gallic Wars). Obverse. Highly stylised head, wearing a laurel wreath on the left; the hair depicted as a sprig of mistletoe between two beaded bands forming a V; beneath the parallel strands, a large ‘S’ and a swastika of strands at the nape of the neck; the cheek marked with a line of small waves between two beaded cords. Reverse: Horse facing right, a charioteer crouching over the croup, a wolf on the right between the legs; in front of the head, a small ball-tipped cross.
