GAUL - CELTIC
Aulerci Eburovices. Quarter-stater with a wolf, Class II with a tattooed cheek, var. 2 ND (early 1st century BC to the Gallic Wars).
Obverse. Highly stylised head, wearing a laurel wreath on the left, with hair in large curled locks and parallel strands; the mouth forms a ‘V’ ending in two dots; the cheek is marked with a line of small waves between two beaded cords.
Reverse: A horse facing right, a stylised charioteer crouching over the hindquarters, a wolf on the right between the legs; in front of the head, a ball-tipped cross.
