GAUL - CELTIC Aulerques Eburovices. Lamellar denarius derived from the type featuring the head of Pallas, reverse showing a wild boar with the inscription ‘ND’ (1st century BC). Obverse. Highly stylised profile of Pallas facing right, wearing a shattered helmet, the crest depicted as two double crescents open to the right, the eye represented by a dotted ring. Reverse. A free-running horse galloping to the right, with a ring in front of its mouth; above, an inverted S; between its legs, a wild boar facing right; at the top, a sort of plait or garland. DT.2425A or 2427 v. – LT.–; Silver – 0.91 g – 15 mm – 6 h Acquired from S. Prat in 2003. A fine strike for this type, with the obverse profile and reverse clearly identifiable and complete. Attractive grey patina. Superb.
