Description
GAUL - CELTIC Aulerques Éburovices. Lamellar denarius derived from the type featuring the head of Pallas, reverse showing the flower ‘ND’ (1st century BC). Obverse: Highly stylised profile of Pallas facing right, wearing a shattered helmet, the crest depicted as two double crescents open to the right. Reverse: A free-running horse galloping to the right; above, a small ring and an unidentified element; between the hooves, a rosette flanked by two small rings, with a sort of elongated ‘S’ below. DT – (cf. 2425) – LT.-; Silver – 0.89 g – 12.5 mm – 11 h Acquired from S. Prat in 2010. This type appears to be previously unpublished and can only be compared to the ‘Nouvel Atlas’ 2425, whose obverse is similar. With a slight grey patina. Superb.
