GAUL - CELTIC
Aulerques Éburovices. Lamellar denarius derived from the type featuring the head of Pallas, reverse showing a wild boar with the letters ‘ND’ (1st century BC).
Obverse: Highly stylised profile of Pallas facing right, wearing a cracked helmet with a crest, the eye depicted as a pointed ring and the mouth as a beaded torque.
Reverse: A free-running horse galloping to the right, with a thread emerging from its mouth; above, an inverted S; between its legs, a boar facing right; at the top, a sort of plait or garland.
DT.2427 v. - LT.-; Silver – 0.69 g – 16 mm – 12 h
Acquired from S. Prat in 2008.
Minted on a wide, scyphate flan. A remarkable and very complete specimen, with a lovely grey patina. Superb.
