GAUL - CELTIC Centre of the Celtic world / Loire Valley. Drachma, a variant of the Bridiers type, derived from the type featuring a lion facing north (mid-2nd century BC). Obverse: Profile to the right, with a prominent nose and hair in strands shaped like crescents. Reverse: Quadruped to the right, a distant derivative of the original Bridiers type, with a beaded neck and a hanging S-shaped tail. Above, a lozenge centred on a circle and, to the right, a wading bird facing right. DT.3307B = this specimen! – Nash –; Silver – 3.2 g – 16.5 mm – 11 h Acquired from G. Herbaux in 2005, originating from the vicinity of Descartes (Indre-et-Loire). This is the specimen illustrated in the *Nouvel Atlas*, plate XV, no. 3307B. The specimen has been cleaned and shows even wear on a domed flan. Appears to be unique. Very good condition.
