Description
GAUL - CELTIC
Bituriges / Uncertain from the Central-West. Drachma depicting a horseman and a shield, Class III, with an Aquitanian head and an ND floral motif (mid-2nd century BC).
Obverse: Beardless head facing right, with hair in thick locks in the Aquitanian style.
Reverse: Horseman facing right, carrying a shield with double rim and umbo; a fleur-de-lis between the horse’s legs.

Acquired from Corinne Rosenbaum in 2015.
The strike is slightly off-centre, with even wear on the relief. Slight grey patina. Very good condition.
