Description
GAUL - CELTIC Central-West (Pictones / Bituriges / Carnutes). Quinarius bearing the inscription BIIINOC and depicting a horse in a temple, ND (60–50 BC). Obverse: BII[INOC] above the bust. Bust facing left with calamistrated hair, a carnyx behind the shoulder. Reverse: Horse facing left, within a temple surmounted by a triangular pediment. The columns are finely detailed and the pediment is edged with pearls. DT.2658-2659 - BN.7050-7055; Silver - 1.68 g - 15 mm - 4 h The strike is off-centre on the obverse, with a few minor rust spots. This specimen has seen little circulation and displays numerous details for this type, which is difficult to find in this condition. Collector’s patina. Superb.
