Description
GAUL - CELTIC Bituriges Cubes. Drachma, wolf-and-horse type, Class II, with two opposing crescents ND (2nd century BC). Obverse: Profile to the right, with S-shaped locks of hair framing the face. On the forehead, a dolphin-shaped motif. Reverse: Horse galloping to the right. Above, a small crouching figure, in the seated wolf position seen on previous series. Below, two opposing crescents. DT.3365 = this specimen! – LT.6033; Silver – 3.28 g – 17 mm – 7 h Acquired from Bourgey in 1997. This is the specimen illustrated in the *Nouvel Atlas*, plate XVIII, no. 3365! On a fine blank, with a centred strike. Even wear with a few scratches on the obverse. Attractive grey patina. Very Good condition.
