Description
GAUL - CELTIC Bituriges Cubes. Quinar, bearing a wolf (?) and an inverted lyre, ND (2nd–1st centuries BC). Obverse: Stylised profile facing right, with hair formed of series of two crescent-shaped locks, surmounted by dots. Reverse: Horse facing right, surmounted by its charioteer holding the reins; behind, the wheel of the chariot; below, an inverted lyre. DT.3367A = this specimen!; Silver – 0.61 g – 11 mm – 6 h Acquired from G. Herbaux. This is the specimen illustrated in the *Nouvel Atlas*, plate XVIII, no. 3367A. The *Nouvel Atlas* classifies this fractional coin as a fraction of the drachma featuring a wolf and an inverted lyre. Our specimen does not show a wolf but a charioteer on his chariot. Superb.
