Description
GAUL - CELTIC Bituriges Cubes. Drachma depicting a horseman and a hand, Class II, Variety 1 with ‘ND’ inscribed on the cheek (late 2nd – early 1st century BC). Obverse. Head facing right; the hair consists of a row of Aquitanian locks framing the face, the rest gathered into a sort of bun at the back, with a double collar; a ball-headed cross adorns the cheek. Reverse: Horseman on the right, with a plait, holding a shield behind him; beneath the horse, a hand from which the thumb protrudes. DT.3341-3342 - LT.4439; Silver – 3.48 g – 16 mm – 6 h Well centred, with fine relief and traces of the original lustre. Superb.
