GAUL - CELTIC Bituriges Cubes. Type III denarius with an Aquitanian head, Class I with the inscription CA – VR ND (60–50 BC). Obverse: ‘Aquitanian’ profile to the left, with thick locks of hair. Reverse: CA at the top and VR between the hooves. Horse walking to the left. DT.3443 - BN.4145; Silver – 1.9 g – 16 mm – 8 h From the J.-P. Dixméras collection, OGN / ALDE auction 2014, lot 160. The strike is only slightly off-centre on this specimen, which has seen very little circulation. The patina is grey, over the original lustre. Superb.
