GAUL - CELTIC Bituriges Cubes. Quinar ABVDOS, Class III ND (mid-1st century BC, Gallic Wars). Obverse: ABVDOS. Head facing left, hair in large curled locks and a prominent ear, with a small ring?; a sort of arch beneath the neck; the inscription ABVDOS in front of the face. Rev. Horse facing left, a sword pointing to the right above its back and the inscription A-BVDO between its legs, surmounted by a pointed ring. DT.3464 = this specimen! - RIG.6 - Nash 1978, plate 21; Silver – 1.73 g – 15 mm – 2 h Acquired from Vinchon and purchased from J.-L. Cougnard in 1998. This is the specimen illustrated in the *Nouvel Atlas*, plate XXI, no. 3464. Vigorously struck, with a slightly concave reverse. The edges are barely corroded, with a grey patina. Very rare. Very good condition.
