Description
GAUL - CELTIC Bituriges / Lemovices. Uninscribed denarius, Cheverny type, depicting a horseman on the right, ND (60–40 BC). Obverse: Profile to the right, with a lock of hair raised at the nape of the neck, set against a grove of oak trees. Reverse: Horseman to the right; a wheel in front of the horse; a wild boar to the right below; a small disc beneath the tail. DT.3452 = this specimen! – BN.4790; Silver – 1.54 g – 16 mm – 12 h This is the specimen illustrated in the Nouvel Atlas no. 3452. The blank is quite thin, barely notched. The strike is slightly off-centre. With a dark patina. Very rare. TTB.
