Quercy / Pétrocores. Obol bearing a Massalian head and a winged wolf (griffin) on the left, ND (260–210 BC).
Obverse: Head of Apollo facing left, of the Massalian type, within a circular guilloche pattern.
Reverse: Wolf facing left, with mouth and jaws wide open, surmounted by a broad wing above its back, within a circular linear guilloche pattern.
CMC 3, series 8.1.1 – Dicomon OCR-310; Silver – 0.63 g – 10 mm – 2 h
An extremely rare type, recently discovered and poorly documented. A specimen of the finest quality, with the blank barely indented. With a grey patina. Almost Superb.
