GAUL - CELTIC Ruthenians. Drachma with water plants, ND (2nd–1st centuries BC). Obverse: Head facing left, with braided hair across the forehead, topped by large curls. Reverse: A ball-headed cross forming four quarters; a water plant in the 1st, 2nd (and 4th) quarters, and a hollow-handled axe on the left in the 3rd quarter. Savès 351 – Hiriart 14.01; Silver – 2.16 g – 15.5 mm – 6 h On the reverse, the cross extends beyond the outer border at 12 o’clock. Variant 1, with leaves lacking a central pistil. The flan is quadrangular. With a lovely antique patina. Superb.
