Description
GAUL - CELTIC
Rutenes. Drachma with water plants, ND (2nd–1st centuries BC).
Obverse: Head facing left, with almond-shaped eyes and plaited hair topped with large curls.
Reverse: A cross without a bulbous end forming four quarters; a water plant in the 1st, 2nd and 4th quarters, [and a hollowed-out axe on the left in the 3rd quarter].

Acquired from CGB in 2021 (bga_651519).
On a rectangular blank, cut with shears. The portrait is clearly visible, with the full head of hair. The reverse is incomplete, but only the type featuring three water leaves and an axe appears to be known. TTB.
