GAUL - CELTIC
Arverni. Quarter-stater featuring a bige, derived from the Abydos workshop, undated (2nd century BC).
Obverse: Apollonian profile wearing a laurel wreath, facing right.
Reverse: Chariot facing right (with a single horse) driven by a charioteer holding the reins; between the horse’s ball-shaped hooves, the remains of the monogram ‘AP’ evolving into a triskelion.
DT.3012 - LT.- - Scheers/Lyon 305; Gold – 2.07 g – 11.5 mm – 5 h
Attributed to the Arverni or the central-eastern region. Well centred. Even wear on the reliefs and a golden patina. Very good condition.
