GAUL - CELTIC
Aedui. Quintus coin depicting a standing warrior and the inscription DVBNOCOV / DVBNOREX, Class I ND (c. 52 BC).
Obverse: DVBNOCOV. Female head facing right, with straight hair in plaited strands falling in braids down the neck.
Reverse: A Gallic warrior in profile, bare-chested and wearing a helmet, walking to the left and holding a wild boar standard with both hands. [On the right, the inscription DVBNOREX, from bottom to top].
DT.3211 - LT.5026; Silver – 1.78 g – 13 mm – 2 h
Acquired at a flea market in Saint-Ouen in 1989.
Described as having a “helmeted head on the right” in the *Nouvel Atlas*, this type features a female head on the obverse. Well centred, with a high-relief effigy on the obverse and a beautiful grey patina with bluish highlights. Superb / Very Fine.
