GAUL - CELTIC Aedui. Denarius or quinarius VVVIOCV depicting a warrior, an imitation of VIIPOTAL (?) ND (c. 60–50 BC). Obverse: [legend outside the die, ////VX]. Female head facing right, with straight hair in braided strands falling in plaits down the neck. Rev. VVVIOCV. A Gallic warrior standing facing forwards, in military attire, holding a spear and a wild boar standard in his right hand and an oblong shield in his left. DT.- (cf. 3214) - LT.- ; Silver – 2.22 g – 13.5 mm – 12 h This legend, VVVIOCV, appears not to be listed in any catalogue! The design on both the obverse and reverse imitates the Aeduan quinari. With a deep grey patina. Very Good / Very Good to Superb.
