Description
GAUL - CELTIC Lingones. KALETEDOY quinarius, Class III ND (late 2nd century BC). Obverse: Helmeted head facing left, a beaded line coiled in front of the ear and locks of hair at the nape of the neck; the neck is adorned with a beaded necklace. Reverse: A saddled horse facing left, surrounded by the stylised legend KALETEDOY. DT.3196 v. – LT.8291; Silver – 1.86 g – 12 mm – 12 h Acquired from Bourgey in 2000. With a fine, antique collector’s patina. The reverse inscription is largely visible, with a Δ beneath the horse. Superb.
