GAUL - CELTIC
Bellovaci. Quarter-stater in gold, featuring a star and a horse on the right, ND (50–30 BC).
Obverse. Profile features on the right, with the nose occupying one-third of the field: the eye is an oval centred on a small sphere; beneath the nose, the mouth is suggested by a sort of very elongated ‘S’; on the left, three oblique rows evoke a laurel wreath.
Reverse: A horse facing right, with a rounded head and hooves; above and below, a radiant star.
DT.272 - LT.7239 v.; Gold – 1.44 g – 11 mm – 2 h
Well centred with all elements present on the obverse; the reverse is slightly off-centre. Slight golden patina. Very Good to Superb.
