GAUL - CELTIC Ambiens. Denarius of the human profile/horse type, Class I, with a bare, beardless head, ND (1st century BC). Obverse. Head facing left, with almond-shaped eyes and hair in thick, hooked locks; remnants of neck decoration. Reverse: A free-running horse facing right, with a small ring on the shoulder and hip, a beaded mane, two S-shaped serpents above and one in the exergue, and three beaded and dotted rings above, in front and below. DT.354 - LT.-; Silver - 1.35 g - 14 mm - 8 h The reverse is slightly off-centre. The obverse is well-preserved and detailed, with a very attractive anthracite patina with bluish highlights. Superb.
