GAUL - CELTIC Ambiens. Denarius ‘Ambiani communal fund’, Class I, bareheaded and androcephalic ND (1st century BC). Obverse. Profile to the left, with luxuriant hair, the locks plaited and ending in hooks; in front of the profile, a double-headed serpent in an ‘S’ shape. Reverse: An androcephalic horse leaping to the left, with a shaggy mane and a centred ring adorning its shoulder. Below and in front, a centred ring; above the hindquarters, a sort of bird with outstretched wings. DT.355 - LT.-; Silver – 1.34 g – 13 mm – 2 h Featuring a beautifully styled bust with detailed hair, and a reverse depicting the broad face of the androcephalic figure. The patina is dark.
