GAUL - CELTIC Ambiens. Denarius ‘Ambiani common fund’, Class II featuring a horse turning its head, a variant of the horse/horse ND type (1st century BC). Obverse: Horse galloping to the right, a small ring on the shoulder and hip, head thrown back with a sort of snake emerging from the mouth, an S-shaped snake in front, pointed rings and rings below. Reverse: Horse galloping to the right, a small ring on the shoulder and hip, a sort of snake emerging from behind the head and multiple small rings in the field. DT.419 v. - LT.-; Silver - 0.86 g - 13.5 mm - 1 h Acquired from Hugo [Taittinger] in 2017. A type known from Bois-l’Abbé near Eu (76). Of remarkable quality, with the designs well-preserved and a delicate grey patina. Superb.
