GAUL - CELTIC
Remes (1st century BC). Stater with the ‘ND’ eye (100–50 BC).
Obverse. Head facing right, with an enlarged eye at the centre of a design covering the entire surface of the obverse. To the right, three radiant stars.
Reverse: A horse facing left, in a figurative style, with ball-shaped joints on its legs and a three-strand tail forming part of the decorative motif. Above, a ball-shaped corner within a heart-shaped beaded motif. Below, a small ring centred on a dot, surrounded by a beaded circle. In front of the head, a small beaded square adorned with a cross, and a star in front of the horse.
DT.174 - LT.8799; Gold – 6.34 g – 17 mm – 10 h
With excess metal on the reverse exergue (chipped corner). Of very fine style, with a golden patina. Superb.
