GAUL - CELTIC
Noricum. Tetradrachm with a Janus-like head, ND (2nd–1st centuries BC).
Obverse. Janus-like head of two men with flowered beards.
Reverse. Female rider facing right, with prominent breasts, armless and long-haired, on a horse walking to the right, holding reins, with legs extended.

Acquired from Richelieu Numismatique in 1987.
Issued for the Norici (present-day Styria and Carinthia). The blank is slightly short and thick, with the reverse slightly concave. It has a grey patina with iridescent highlights. TTB to Superb.
