Description
GAUL - CELTIC Britain, Trinovantes, Addedomarus (45–25 BC). Stater featuring the ND star (37–33 BC). Obverse: A star composed of six interlaced rays, with three hollowed-out crescents set against the centre. Reverse: A saddled horse facing right. Above, a sort of flower comprising three joined elements; below, a stylised cornucopia surmounted by three dots, in the shape of a lyre; pointed rings beneath the tail and in front of the horse. Van Arsdell 1620-1 – ABS 2517 – Spink 201; Gold – 5.53 g – 19 mm – 12 h From a Vecchi 2 sale, 12 September 1996, lot 1089, then Richelieu Numismatique, summer 1997 catalogue, 30 July 1997, lot 55. A well-centred specimen, on a rose-coloured gold blank, with very slight cracking on the obverse. The reverse is concave and all details are intact. Superb.
