Description
GAUL - CELTIC Spain (Hispania) – Empuries (Ampurias or Emporiæ). Drachma featuring Pegasus with the head of a Cabir, ND (c. 220 BC), Emporiæ (Empuries). Obverse: Bust of Arethusa facing right, wearing a diadem, with flowing hair, surrounded by swirls reminiscent of dolphins. Reverse: EMΠOPIT[ΩN]. Pegasus with a stylised head facing right. Dicomon EMP-22 – CNH 34–37; Silver – 4.22 g – 17 mm – 1 h Acquired in Girona in 2014. With ancient graffiti on the cheek. Surfaces showing only slight corrosion. Well centred with a light patina. Very Good to Superb condition.
